Arnold Schwarzenegger is making a difference in the lives of veterans this holiday season.

Schwarzenegger, 74, personally donated 25 homes to veterans in the Los Angeles area who had been previously living on the street, he shared on Twitter Thursday. The former California governor unveiled the homes this week as an early Christmas gift.

"Today, I celebrated Christmas early. The 25 homes I donated for homeless veterans were installed here in LA," he tweeted Thursday. "It was fantastic to spend some time with our heroes and welcome them into their new homes."

Schwarzenegger also gave shoutouts to the nonprofit Village for Vets, as well as the Office of the Secretary of Veterans Affairs and American Veterans (AMVets) for their help. "We proved that when we all work together, we can solve any problem," He wrote.

Village for Vets provided the homes, which Schwarzenegger made possible with a $250,000 donation, according to FOX 11 Los Angeles

The Village for Vets website explains that tiny shelters, like the 25 donated by Schwarzenegger, "provide an elevated standard of living from tent encampments while veterans are on their journey to find permanent housing and stability."

Each home has heat, electricity and air conditioning, AMVets employee Rob Reynolds told FOX 11.

Schwarzenegger said in a follow-up Tweet that acts of kindness are "what Christmas is all about."

"All of you have the power to do something for someone else this holiday season. It doesn't have to be big. Just give a few minutes of your time to help someone else," he continued.

Fentanyl Alert

Veterans Be Aware

A dangerous, deadly drug, “Fentanyl.”

A possible life saving solution is an antidote, “Naloxone.”

Lifesaving Naloxone

Naloxone DrugFacts | National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA)

 * According to the CDC Naloxone can help reverse an Opiate/Fentanyl Overdose/Poisoning.

VA Veterans Crisis Line:  1-800-273-8255   PRESS: 1

Naloxone can be a lifesaver in Opiate/Fentanyl life threatening situations according to the CDC Website.  40% of Opiate/Fentanyl death happens when someone else is with the victim.  Naloxone might help to change the deadly outcome of an accidental overdose.  Many deaths caused by Fentanyl are not Overdoses.  This sorrowful American death toll could be easily classified as Death by Poison!  Fentanyl is a Synthetic Opiate manufactured as a legal medically prescribed drug and as illegal counterfeit pills, powders and nasal sprays estimated at 50 to 100 times more potent than Morphine!  It is reported that Opiates like Morphine can suppress and/or stop a person's breathing.

Veterans, Be Aware!  Fentanyl can KILL you.  Fentanyl causes the death of many innocent American lives.  Two tiny milligrams, the size of two granulated grains of salt of this prescription drug in one counterfeit pill can poison and kill a person.  The illegally manufactured poison pill pain medications can look like authentic pharmaceutical prescription drugs.  There are many bogus forms of counterfeit opiate drugs laced with synthetic Fentanyl.

There are “Counterfeit” opiate drugs like:  Oxicotin or Percocet and illegal Street Drugs like: Heroin, Cocaine and Marijuana have been laced with this dangerous Synthetic Drug.

Who are the mistaken victims who are dying from counterfeit Opiate, Fentanyl Overdose/Poisonings?  American Veterans, Teenagers, Young Adults in their 20’s 30’s 40’s and older adults too.  American Babies have also died from accidental Fentanyl poisonings.  This is an “American Fentanyl Crisis”.   This is an American Family Tragedy of Overdoses, Poisonings and Suicides that we as a Nation must address and Stop!

Contact:

The official CDC Website for lifesaving information about Naloxone, an Opiate/Fentanyl antidote that is legal in all 50 states to have at home or to carry on your person and/or in a car.

Fentanyl Facts

Fentanyl is a synthetic opioid that is up to 50 times stronger than heroin and 100 times stronger than morphine. It is a major contributor to fatal and nonfatal overdoses in the U.S.1

There are two types of fentanyl: pharmaceutical fentanyl and illicitly manufactured fentanyl. Both are considered synthetic opioids. Pharmaceutical fentanyl is prescribed by doctors to treat severe pain, especially after surgery and for advanced-stage cancer.

However, most recent cases of fentanyl-related overdose are linked to illicitly manufactured fentanyl, which is distributed through illegal drug markets for its heroin-like effect. It is often added to other drugs because of its extreme potency, which makes drugs cheaper, more powerful, more addictive, and more dangerous.

Illicitly manufactured fentanyl

Illicitly manufactured fentanyl (IMF) is available on the drug market in different forms, including liquid and powder1.

Powdered fentanyl looks just like many other drugs. It is commonly mixed with drugs like heroin, cocaine, and methamphetamine and made into pills that are made to resemble other prescription opioids. Fentanyl-laced drugs are extremely dangerous, and many people may be unaware that their drugs are laced with fentanyl.

In its liquid form, IMF can be found in nasal sprays, eye drops, and dropped onto paper or small candies.

Street names for IMF include:

  • Apache
  • Dance Fever
  • Friend
  • Goodfellas
  • Jackpot
  • Murder 8
  • Tango & Cash

My name is Fernando and I work with RetireGuide- a free web resource dedicated to providing useful retirement and health-related information to help older adults. The U.S Department of Veteran Affairs recommends veterans enroll in Medicare when they turn 65 even if they have VA benefits.
